Why We Send Traditional Holiday Cards

Snowman Christmas CardAs an email service provider, you might expect that Delivra would gear up to send a snazzy eCard to its clients.

After all, eCards are cheaper. You save money buying a card, eliminate stuffing envelopes, and adding address labels and stamps. Plus, to be environmentally friendly it's a way to save trees and fuel. Lastly, it's a way to promote your business.

So, why do we send traditional holiday cards?

Real cards celebrate a special occasion

Yes, email is easier. Our clients know this and they receive email from us year round. Part of the reason for sending greeting cards is to make clients feel like they are important. Real cards get attention. I still get excited about getting something other than a bill or advertising in the mail.

Real cards stick around longer

Email cards may be appreciated, but what happens to them afterward? Most likely, they get deleted or stashed in a folder never to be seen again. In our office, real cards get displayed in the lobby for the entire month of December.

Real cards give us the opportunity to give back

Delivra has traditionally participated in the holiday card program offered by Riley Hospital for Children. The proceeds from the card program benefit the Riley Childrens Foundation, and the card cover is produced by a Riley patient artist. How cute is the snowman we chose?

We love email. But sometimes, traditional is better.
