What’s one of the biggest keys to success in life?
Not giving up.
Our newest Delivra salesman had set up a sales call with a corporate headquarters marketing chief this week. He asked me to accompany him on the sales call reasoning that there may be questions that I would be more experienced at answering. The reception by this prospect was amazing. He was ready to buy and wanted to get a proposal for a February 2010 launch.
Leaving the meeting I commented, "It doesn't get any better than that. Our timing is perfect. Wish they were all that easy."
Newbie then told me he had been calling on this company for three years going through multiple marketing department chairs and had even physically been to the office three separate times. Finally, he received a call back.
It wasn't easy after all.
Not giving up or perseverance is one of the most important personality attributes we can have. Many times it's the key to attaining success.
The dictionary describes perseverance as "persisting in a state, enterprise, or undertaking in spite of counter influences, opposition, or discouragement."
That sounds like a pretty good recipe for success in life: to persist despite whatever gets in your way.
