Here in Indianapolis, Mother Nature called for it to be cloudy and rainy all day. It is days like this that make me want to stay in my pajamas, curl up under a blanket and read a good book. Regrettably, I wasn’t able to do that today, but I got several reminders from a well known bookstore about some of the books I could be enjoying if I didn’t have to work. Barnes and Noble used several tools in their marketing tool belt to inform me of the books I would, unfortunately, have to miss out on today!
This morning before coming into work, I took the time to check my social networking sites. Being a fan of the Barnes and Noble Facebook page, I noticed in my news feed that they were promoting a specific book today that had just hit shelves by informing me that there would be a live Facebook interview with the offer. Good to know. Then, on my Twitter feed, Barnes and Noble were – again – promoting the live interview with the author. This time they offered me the link to click back to so that I could participate in the chat.
When I finally made it into work this morning (after I had dragged myself away from my warm bed) I was checking my email to find one from (SURPRISE) Barnes and Noble, letting me know that I could buy the book at 30% off.
Needless to say, they used every marketing tool they had to let me know about this book and, eventually, they wanted me to buy this book.
So, to wrap things up, use all of the marketing tools in your toolbox to let people know about a promotion, but keep it consistent and give them a little more information each time. That way, by the end, you can offer them a promotion that they can’t say no too!
