When you deal with email all day, it's easy to forget that your recipients actually exist physically in different locations. You don't need to worry about postage issues for sending overseas. And someone in Australia would receive your mailing at the same time as a recipient just down the block.
But a recipient's location can make a difference in the types of offers you want to send. For example, let's say you're a retailer opening a new store. You may want to send a targeted message to those recipients who live close by to let them know that you're "now more convenient than ever!", and encourage them to attend the grand opening for big savings. Or, if you have recipients all across the country, you may want to time when you send your mailing based on where they are.

With a few clicks of the mouse, I'm able to create a segment of all of my recipients within 20 a mile radius of the Delivra offices (ZIP code 46240). And it's easy to combine that with other segment queries, so maybe I only want to send it to those in that radius who also opened my last mailing.
