Growing up I was taught saying the word "stupid" was mean, rude, and disrespectful. HOWEVER, I must say often times the saying, "keep it simple stupid" rings true, especially when designing an email marketing strategy.
Working for Delivra, I am reminded daily just how profitable email marketing can be. More importantly, how SIMPLE it is to customize your message to your audience. Email marketing gives you the tools to not only target your audience, but to reach them in a SMIPLE fashion and to make purchasing easy.
Last March, we purchased a custom design sales whiteboard for our Delivra Sales Team. We ordered from a local company called Magnetic Concepts. Fast forward six months...I received an email from them thanking me for my purchase and offering me a free bottle of cleaner for my board if I chose to buy any other whiteboard accessory. Truthfully, I may have just deleted the email except for the link located next to the free gift offer. I thought to myself, it can't hurt to just click on it and see what they have to offer. They made it EASY for me to click and see several fun products to add to the aesthetics of my board. Since I was going to receive free cleaner, I decided to add some magnets and an eraser holder for our whiteboard...an EASY and fun purchase.
Simply said, they made me feel like a valued customer. I felt appreciated when they remembered what I purchased, thanked me, and offered me a free gift. BUT it was the fact they provided their LINK in the body of the message and made it SIMPLE for me to peruse their products that encouraged me to order.
Keep it SIMPLE and not only know your audience, but embody the sentiments...appreciation and respect...and never use the word, "STUPID." :)
